1841-72, selection of 37 stamps used and unused, and seven covers, with  "Diligencias" in complete set of three values represented in marginal unused examples, positions 6, 31 and 16, all free of the imperfections that are usually encountered in this issue, plus one further 1r. example; "Block Type" 180c. (2) and 240c. (2, in red and brown-red), all unused, following with thin figures 60c. cancelled by Salto fancy cancel (very rare in blue), 60c. lilac grey & 180c. green both on piece (very rare combination franking); thick figures 100c. unused (2), 180c.; "Escuditos" including couple of rare cancels, etc. The postal history part with two entire letters (8.11.1841 & 8.8.1842) from Montevideo to San Fructuoso and Tacuarembó, showing "Montv°." in manuscript red ink (very scarce usage during the Great War); two stampless entire letters (1852-53) to Tacurembó with "Montv°." straight-line and "Correo de Montevideo" c.d.s., two single frankings with 1860-61 fine impression 60c. and coarse impression 60c. on entires (entire letters in this period are unusual), and thick figures 120c. vertical half on cover. A highly attractive lot with stamps in choice condition.
