1879, ´´Arms of Choco´´ Issue, 5c. black, horizontal pair exceptionally showing overlapping impressions which are neat and of rich colour, complete to predominantly very large margins with frame lines of neighbouring adhesives, the left-hand stamp cancelled by crossed strokes, whereas the other shows  a manuscript cancel of Quibdó, used on judicial wrapper to Vigía del Fuerte. Only 100 stamps were handstamped, using an old seal of the Province of Choco with the inscription of the Nueva Granada Republic (this handstamp dating to before 1858). The stamps were issued under the authority of the Prefecture, later confirmed as State (or rather Departmental) issues by the Departmental Government. A gem of Colombian States which may be considered as the most important item of Cauca for the following reasons: it exhibits the largest used multiple known of this value (of which about seven used examples including this pair are recorded, on or off cover), also representing one of the two covers in existence franked by this stamp. Cert. Calves. Yvert 1A. Ex Ferrary and Caspary. Starting Price US$ 5,000
