British Maritime Mail. 1824-75. A remarkable assembly comprising 97 covers to France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and USA, with conveyance of, apart from merchant vessels, the following companies: RMSP, PSNC, Booth Line, Lamport & Holt, Clyde Line, Liverpool & Maranh"o Steamship Co., some of which being scarcely involved in this route from Brazil. Part of the material has been mounted and written-up on exhibition pages, including involvement of the British P.O."s in Brazil, Atlantic Ocean double crossing mail, interesting entry and transit postmarks, rare early mail in the 1820"s, better exchange markings, few covers with "Dom Pedro" values or forwarding agents involvement, scarce mail forwarded to Portugal via Gibraltar, etc. A highly interesting lot that would form the basis of an exhibit.
