Auction: CSS75 - THE SOUTH EAST ASIAN COLLECTION PART III
Lot: 4071

Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya & British Borneo, a pair of uniface obverse and reverse archival photographic model for an unissued $100, 1952,
serial number A/11 00000, Queen Elizabeth II at right, flower patterns, reverse arms of member states, plant at centre, DLR stamp 'DLR Studio Photographed 1 May 1952' on both.

While this design was not ultimately adopted, note that it does bear the portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth.

This fascinating note was prepared by Thomas de la Rue, and completed by 1 May 1952. Elizabeth's father, King George VI, passed on 6 February 1952. Accordingly, Elizabeth had only been on the throne -- uncrowned -- for less than three months when this proposed design was completed and undoubtedly submitted to the Currency Board.

The note is complimented by having a very striking back to go together with the front.
(Pick unlisted), both graded PCGS Currency 64 Very Choice New (1 pair). Unique and a beautiful design
