German Post Office: 1896 (29 May) envelope to Bavaria, "German Local Post" bearing a fine strike of the "nanking local post" bilingual dated oval in purple, with German 20pf. Eagle tied by Shanghai c.d.s. and, on the reverse, Shanghai Local Post (30.5), Hong Kong (9.6) and Regntzlosan arrival (12.7) c.d.s. The envelope has been fractionally trimmed at foot, otherwise a fine cover, particularly collectable with the Nanking datestamp on the address side. Photo
