1904 1c. ochre in the original Chinese Imperial Post distribution envelope “1,000 Postage-due Stamps, 1 Cent”. The envelope contains twelve blocks, each being four panes with margin at top and manuscript sheet number in the top right corner “239“ to “249“ (one sheet without side margin) and one block of two panes. The stamps are from plate II, panes J, K, L and M. Each sheet is with its original backing paper which has adhered in a few places (at the bottom of some panes) causing some dried gum, otherwise extremely fresh unmounted mint.
A rare and desirable holding with its original envelope
281,560 stamps were issued. The “sheets“ of eighty are occasionally found but I have never seen the original distribution envelopes before and this explains how the stamps were held at the main post office for distribution
1904年大清郵政倫敦版蟠龍加蓋欠資1分新票郵局總包1件,帶原封皮,封皮印有紅色“大清國郵政,欠資一分票壹千個”英漢雙語字樣,另蓋有負責人名章,內裝倫敦版蟠龍加蓋欠資1分票左右雙全格小版25件,背面均附硫酸紙,為當時大清郵政分配給下屬郵局郵票包裝之原樣,保存完好,原汁原味,極為難得,是研究清代郵政制度及郵票配給重要實證
