A fascinating collection on the theme of the De Tham Rebellion (1884-1913). Hoang Hoa Tham (also known as De Tham) emerged as one of the leaders of the anti-French resistance in Northern Vietnam. The uprising ended in 1913 when De Tham was assasinated. The collection includes five outgoing military covers with 'Colonne Du Phuc-Yen Tonkin/Le Commandant' postmarks which was the regiment fighting against the rebellion, one incoming postcard to a soldier serving in the infantry. Plus fourteen picture postcards illustrating De Tham, his headquarters, soldiers, prisoners and executions.
