(x) China, Qing Dynasty, a set of 'Kesi' silk Crane Rank Badges for the 1st rank civil official, including back badge and split front badge, both back and front badges with identical pattern, size 30.5x32cm. The phoenix symbolizes the empress, while the crane ranks second only to the phoenix among auspicious birds and has long represented the highest official rank. This rank badge retains magnificent colours and intricate gold thread work, with the crane vividly depicted. Though a few threads are loose, it is rarely seen in a complete front and back set. Minor imperfections do not diminish its exceptional charm
