1862 (15 Sept.) mourning envelope to a Captain in the 31st Regiment in Hong Kong or China bearing G.B. 1855-57 6d. lilac cancelled by "239" numeral, with "1/6" and "1" rate marks, a heavy strike of the boxed "deficient postage/british share of fine" struck in black with manuscript "6" for each section and a good strike of the boxed "colonies share of fine" struck in red with manuscript "6"; the reverse bearing Dawlish despatch c.d.s., London, Hong Kong (12.11) and Shanghae (20.11) c.d.s. A good cover attempting to pay the officers' rate of 6d. Photo
