1842 (June) envelope carried privately to Capt. Henry Smith "HM Ship Druid, Hong Kong or Bombay" and sent "Via Aden" bearing a fair strike of the rare "post office/hong kong/184" with manuscript "2" and a light strike of boxed "bombay/ship letter/bearing" datestamp and manuscript "1" rate mark. Sailing from Amoy, H.M.S. Druid was in Hong Kong between 2nd and 18th June before departing for Bombay. A note previous to this in late 1841 when piracy remained a source of much trouble, especially in the vicinity of Amoy, where, on one occasion, a boat of the Druid, Captain Henry Smith, lost several men by the sudden blowing up of a large junk at the moment of boarding.
