1894 (15 July) envelope to U.S.A. bearing Japan 5s. Koban tied by "i.j.p.o. shanghai/meiji 27" c.d.s. (17.7) with a very fine strike of "kewkiang/local post" dated oval in purple and, on the reverse, Shanghai Local Post (17.7), Yokohama (26.7), San Francisco (10.8) and Baraboo arrival (14.8). Both sides of this envelope have been affixed to backing card for protection.


Believed to be the earliest subscriber cover to U.S.A. Photo


1894年7月15日捐助訂戶郵封寄美國, 銷紫色九江書信館㰐圓形日戳, 7月17日經上海書信館轉日本在華客郵局, 補貼日本5 錢, 銷7月17日 I.J.P.O. "上海/ 明治27" 日戳, 封背分別蓋7月17日上海書信館日戳, 7月26日橫濱和8月10日三藩市中轉戳, 與及8月14日Baraboo 到達戳. 信封正背面内都貼了卡紙加强保護. 相信是最早期寄往美國之捐助訂戶郵封, 值得珍藏.
