Type N: 1865 (12 May) envelope to Dover "By P&O Steamer Via Marseilles, Paid" bearing 24c. green cancelled by "B62" in blue, with a good strike of the unframed "exc/oz/deficient postage/colonys share of fine" in blue with manuscript "4" and "6"; this has been crossed through and the Post Office added "Short paid, Send via S(outhampton)", redirected to Ireland on arrival with Dover (11.7) c.d.s., the reverse with Hong Kong despatch, Dover and Curragh arrival (12.7). Some creasing and wrinkling. A very interesting cover, the rate via Marseilles was 32c. but via Southampton 24c.
