China, Qing Dynasty, Yunnan Province, [Zhong Qian AU58] silver sycee of 5 taels, Guangxu era, shaped like a Chinese gateway or horse saddle, issued by Fu Cheng Guang Ji, weighs 177.7g, stamp indicating the quality of the silver has been inspected by the officials Tong Fu Cheng, She Qing Cheng and Duan Tong Bao. The booming trade of opium within Yunnan brought an influx of silver, but discrepancy in purity of silver from different regions meant that a unified standard is needed for buyers and sellers alike, hence the introduction of the quality control system.


清代光緒年間雲南福盛廣記匯號紋銀五兩牌坊銀錠,雙樑均打「公估童佘段看」,中乾評AU58。其時雲南盛產雅片,貿易頻繁,各省市大小各異、成色不一的銀錠亦隨之湧入雲南昆明,為商人帶來諸多不便,從而發展統一的標準去將各地的銀錠重新熔鑄以方便交易。此枚牌坊銀錠當年由公估童福盛、佘慶盛及段通寶共同驗訖,三重鑒定,極其嚴謹。
