Auction: 9037 - The "Pierron" Collection of British Commonwealth Missing Colours
Lot: 1296
Jamaica 1964-68 Issue 6d. with gum arabic, a lower right corner block of six (3x2) with plate numbers, showing blue omitted, fine. Pierron JA446MCa, £600; S.G. 223a, £480+. Photo Estimate £ 400-500 Note: The missing blue results in subtle colour loss from the wings. The error occurred on pane number 246 plus one other; two plate blocks (normally 1A–1A–1A–1A) both missing 1A referencing blue exist confirming two panes were affected. The error on gum arabic can be readily differentiated from the error on PVA by the very obvious difference in gum colour – arabic is cream coloured while PVA is white. Further, on the design side, pale orange is more prominent on gum arabic printings whereas turquoise-green is more prominent on PVA printings.
