Gold Coast Quittah 1881 (May) blue envelope to Germany, bearing 1876-84 2d. green pair each cancelled "B27." and showing a superb strike of the exceptionally rare "quittah/paid/gold coast" c.d.s. (Type J, day of month not visible) alongside Paid Liverpool Br. Packet c.d.s. (4.6), the reverse with London (4.6) and Altensteig c.d.s.; the envelope with some age marks though remaining the sole example of the Paid mark seen on cover to date.
