Gold Coast Elmina 1897 (9 Aug.) Ackerman envelope registered to England, bearing 1884-91 2 1/2d. ultramarine and orange pair each cancelled with "elmina/gold coast" Code C c.d.s. (Type 5) with a further strike alongside, and 2d. grey (to pay the registration fee, presumably sent down with the letter, there being no full provision for registration at Elmina) cancelled with "cape coast/gold coast" c.d.s. (Type 5), showing "R" in oval h.s. and Liverpool Registered oval d.s. (3.9), the reverse with Cape Coast double-ring d.s. (Type 6, 10.8) and Bletchley Station c.d.s. (3.9). Unusual. S.G. 13, 14.
