Gambia 1896 (15 Apr.) envelope registered from Bathurst to Camden, N.J., U.S.A., bearing 1886-93 2d. deep orange and 2 1/2d. deep bright blue each cancelled with "bathurst/gambia" c.d.s, showing "R" in oval, "marseille bches du rhone" transit c.d.s. (27.4) and a U.S. set of registration numbers at foot, the reverse with two different Paris c.d.s. (28.4 and 29.4) and New York registration d.s. (5.8). Scarce and attractive. S.G. 25, 27.
