Sea Gallantry Medal, V.R., Large Silver Medal, for Gallantry (Henry Spindler. Wreck of the "Rifleman" on the 21st. January 1886.), edge bruise, good very fine, in embossed ´Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea´ leather case of issue Estimate £ 350-400 Henry Spindler served as Coxswain of Thorpeness Lifeboat, 1882-92, during which period he went out in the boat 34 times on service and assisted in saving 93 lives. He was awarded the RNLI silver medal in December 1892 ´´in recognition of his gallant services during the ten years he held the office of Coxswain´´. Provenance: Sotheby, June 1971.
