Taylor, Royal Irish Constabulary Constabulary Medal (Ireland), 2nd type, reverse engraved, ´Constable Edward Taylor 75764, 1921´, good very fine, with straight bar swivel suspension Estimate £ 2,400-2,800 75764 Constable Edward Taylor born Yorkshire, 14.1.1896; his trade is given as a butcher and an ex-soldier; Taylor was recruited for the Royal Irish Constabulary in Liverpool, 22.11.1920; his postings included Cork, East Riding, November-December 1920 and at Union Quay in the same city, from 1.1.1921; he was awarded the Constabulary Medal for his actions during an ambush at Gaggan between Clonakilty and Bandon (West Cork), 6.12.1920 (medal awarded 3.3.1921, RIC Register No. Ref 75764/65501); Taylor was in receipt of a 1st Class and a 3rd Class Favourable record; he was discharged 13.2.1922, with a pension of £50 and 40 Shillings (Leahy Index, refers).
