South Africa 1877-79, one clasp, 1877-8 (831. Pte. J.L. Bradley. 2/24th Foot.), remnants of lacquer, small test mark to edge at 11 o´clock, good very fine Estimate £ 550-600 831 Private John L. Bradley served with the 2nd Battalion 24th Foot in South Africa and died of disease at Pietermaritzburg, 14.8.1878. Published transcription of roll records South Africa Medal with 1877-8 clasp as being issued for recipient and being returned to the Mint, 17.9.1885. The medal was subsequently re-issued, probably to the next of kin.
