New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated 1845-1846 (R. Andrews, Sergt. R.M., H.M.S. North Star), partially officially renamed, nearly extremely fine Estimate £ 400-450 Approximately 155 New Zealand medals dated 1845-46 were awarded, of which approximately 41 were issued to H.M.S. North Star, 25 of which are recorded as known. Of this number 1 is recorded with an undated reverse. Colour Sergeant Robert Andrews, born Petworth, Sussex; joined the Royal Marines, 1828; Corporal 1835; Colour Sergeant 1841, ´´Robert Andrews, of the Royal Marines, produces five certificates of very good conduct, and is in possession of three medals - one for having been present at the operations on the Coast of Africa - and the second for China - and the third for Good Conduct. With the last he received a gratuity of £15 - He was also in action in New Zealand´´ (Service Papers refers); service included in H.M.S.´´s Edinburgh, Champion and North Star the latter 25.9.1841-8.9.1846; discharged 1852 after 23 years service.
