x Indian Stamps used in the Straits Settlements 1855-65 Typographed Issues Singapore Mail to the United States of America 1864 (20 Aug.) entire letter to New York, marked "Via Southampton", bearing 8p. purple, 2a. yellow (damaged) and 8a. carmine strip of three (one crossed by vertical filing crease), all cancelled "B/172", showing red crayon "3/2", London Paid transit c.d.s. (20.10) overstruck by New York arrival d.s. (2.11) and, on reverse, "singapore/p.o." double-ring d.s. in red; some small faults though a rare and attractive franking.
