MacDonald attd 7th Meerut Divnl Sigs Coy (Palestine) Captain Lewis John MacDonald, M.C.; served as Mate Pilot in the Bengal Marine Department prior to the outbreak of the Great War, and continued in this capacity until 30.4.1915, when he was commissioned Second Lieutenant, Indian Army Reserve of Officers; Lieutenant 30.4.1916; as a Certified Instructor in Army Signalling, he served with the 33rd Divisional Signals Company, Sappers and Miners, in the Mesopotamian theatre of War, from18.12.1915; he served in Palestine with the 33rd, 31st, 37th , 7th and 35th Divisional Signals Companys; advanced Captain 30.4.1919 and relinquished his commission, 1.5.1922; appointed Senior Master Pilot Bengal Covenanted Pilot Service, 18.5.1920, and was still in service in 1928.
