Exmouth´, contact marks, very fine, mounted for wear (2) Estimate £ 80-100 148095 Petty Officer Frederick Robert Mansell, born Portsmouth, Hampshire, 1874; joined the Royal Navy as Boy Second Class, 1892; service included in H.M.S. Centurion, February 1894 - March 1897, and in H.M.S. Exmouth, May 1907 - May 1909, during which time he participated in the rescue operations after the Messina Earthquake, 1908, and was one of the men from the Navy who landed from the ships to give assistance; service during the Great War included at H.M.S. Excellent, 1.1.1914-12.9.1917.
