J: E: Cracroft 69th N:I:), light contact marks, otherwise good very fine, with contemporary silver Hunt & Roskill top riband buckle, this with gold retaining pin Estimate £ 350-400 Major-General John Edward Cracroft, born 1821; commissioned Ensign 69th Bengal Native Infantry, 1842; Lieutenant 1845; attached as Interpreter to the Engineers Department of the Army of the Sutlej; served with the Force under General Whish, throughout the operations in the vicinity, and siege and surrender of Mooltan and action of Goojerat (Medal and clasps); advanced Colonel Bengal Staff Corps, 1873; retired Major-General 1877.
