x The Extremely Rare M.G.S. and Cabul 1842 Pair to Regimental Surgeon H. Hart, 31st Foot, Late 40th Foot Military General Service 1793-1814, one clasp, Busaco (Dr. H. Hart, Asst. Surgn. 40th Foot), minor edge bruise; Cabul 1842 (Henry Hart. MD. Surgeon. H.Ms. 31st Regt.), engraved in upright serif capitals, with silver eyelet and gold straight bar suspension, generally extremely fine (2) Estimate £ 2,200-2,600 Henry Hart, M.D. (1789-1854); entered the Army as a Hospital Mate, December 1809; served with the 40th Foot during the Peninsular War and was present at the battle of the Coas, the defence of Busaco Ridge, the Lines at Torres Vedras and at the actions of Pombal, Redinha, Leria and Condeixa; Assistant Surgeon 16th Foot, 1811; later postings included with the 77th Foot and the 13th Dragoons; received his M.D. from King´´s College, 1822; Regimental Surgeon 31st Foot, 1830, and served with them throughout the campaign of 1842 in Afghanistan; Staff Surgeon, 1849, and worked on the Hospital Staff at Glasgow.
