x Naval General Service 1793-1840, two clasps, Nassau 22 March 1808, Algiers (Thomas Holloway.), pawn broker´s marks to edge at 11 o´clock, suspension slack, edge bruise, therefore very fine Estimate £ 1,400-1,800 Thomas Holloway served as Ordinary Seaman in H.M.S. Nassau, there is one other man of this name on the Admiralty Claimants´´ List and his entitlement is listed as ´´Syria´´. Holloway served in H.M.S. Nassau for the destruction of the Danish 74-gun ship-of-the-line Prinds Christian Frederick, a joint venture undertaken with H.M.S. Stately, 22.3.1808; he later served as the same rate in H.M.S. Albion for the combined attack on Algiers by the English and Dutch fleets, 27.8.1816. Approximately 30 ´´Nassau 22 March 1808´´ clasps claimed. Thomas Holloway, born London; served in the 2nd Surrey Militia prior to volunteering for the Royal Navy, July 1803; he served as Landsman in H.M.S. Princess of Orange before transferring as Ordinary Seaman to H.M.S. Nassau, February 1806; later service included in H.M.S.´´s Eagle and Namur; discharged from the service September 1814 before volunteering to re-join in May 1816; served with H.M.S.
