Great Britain Postal History Soldiers Letters 1812 (May), entire letter from Paisley, Scotland addressed "For Serjeant Smillie 94th. Regt. 3rd. Division of the British Army Portugal", rated "1" in manuscript and with boxed "paisley/412 - c" mileage mark; 1812 (Dec.) large part entire letter from a Corporal of the Horse Guards in Portugal to Chesterfield, marked on the reverse with the Soldiers name, ranks and initials of the Regiment (contrary to regulations), interesting contents including "we expect to join Lord Wellington Army immediately" a footnote to direct future letters to him at Lisbon or "Lord Wellingtons Army"and a plea "to put 1 penny into the post to send another letter for the last you sent me cost 2 shillings and all through you not paying 1 penny into the post. if you do that it will cost me nothing"; 1817 (Aug.) entire letter from Robertsbridge to "Henry
