Great Britain Postal History Soldiers Letters 1797-1841, a fascinating selection of fifteen entires from Scotland, including 1797 entire from a Sergeant of the North Lowland Fencibles at Monaghan to Edinburgh with P.P. 1 in red and indistinct "monaghan", Bishop mark on reverse; 1797 entire from Loughlintow Camp to Scotland marked Paid 1d., indistinct town handstamp and red "post/paid/d", Bishop mark on reverse; 1797 entire from a Sargeant in the Lowland Fencibles at Monaghan to Edinburgh, endorsed "Soldiers Letter" and "P.P.1", good "monaghan" and arrival datestamp in oval on reverse; 1808 entire to Inverness with superb red "belfast", not sent pre-paid and thus an abuse of privilege, rated "3" and "1/2" (both deleted) and "1/5"; 1812 printed East Kent Regiment enrolement Certificate sent by a volunteer at Athlone to his wife in Essex, signed by the Commanding Officer, a full range of markings with Dublin "mermaid", "returned from colchester" and manuscript "Suppose Halstead", 1833 entire to Bolton with fine framed red "PAID/AT/BELFAST", later items with abuse of privilege, etc., chiefly good to fine.
