Zululand 1897 (18 Jan.) envelope "From No. 3279 Corpl. C. Emery Det. W.R. Regt. Eshowe S Africa" to England, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and bearing 1894 1d. dull mauve and carmine neatly cancelled by Eshowe double-ring d.s. and showing, on reverse, Durban (30.1) and Sheffield (22.2) c.d.s.; fine and scarce. Photo Estimate £ 800-1,000 Note: With the incorporation of Zululand in to Natal on 30th. December 1897, its postage stamps were not immediately withdrawn. The Natal Government Gazette on 15th. February 1898 announced through a Postal Notice that they would remain on issue at Eshowe Post Office until 30th. June 1898 and then withdrawn from sale Corporal Emery, serving with a detachment of the 2nd. Battalion West Riding Regiment at Eshowe, was part of a small garrison stationed in Zululand
