Basutoland The "Gun War" 1880 (31 Dec.) envelope from Philips Town Cape of Good Hope, to Private Brevis of No. 4 Company, the Duke of Edinburgh´s Own Volunteer Rifles at Basutoland", marked "On Active Service" and bearing 3d. on 4d. pale dull rose with triangular cancellation and despatch c.d.s. alongside, Colesberg transit c.d.s. (3.1.81) on reverse; some fox spots and other faults though one of only two recorded in-going soldiers´ covers during the "Gun War".
