Malaya Penang 1863 (9 July) small entire letter "From Srgt Major Wilkinson Battery H.M.M. Artillery" at Penang to Madras, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and bearing India 1/2a. pale blue tied by manuscript "Stamped" and neatly cancelled "B/147", showing a good strike of the very rare "penang/ship letter/paid" d.s. alongside Madras arrival c.d.s. (5.8) and manuscript " 1/2A" charge charged on delivery. An extremely rare soldier´s letter from Penang.
