India 1833 (1 Mar.) entire letter "From J. Shepherd, Asst. Schoolmaster, H.C. Europn Regt." at Dinapore to Scotland, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing a largely fine strike of the "india soldiers/3/london" circular h.s. (In. Sol. 4), the reverse with Calcutta Ship Letter and arrival (5.9) d.s.; an unusual cover from an Army Schoolmaster. Photo Estimate £ 200-250 Note: The Regimental School was established for the care and instruction of children on non-commissioned officers and soldiers. Post Office Regulations indicated "Army Schoolmasters of all but the First Class were entitled to the same privileges, in regard to their correspondence, as are enjoyed by non-commissioned officers and private soldiers"
