Afghanistan 2nd. Afghan War, 1878-81 1880 (18 June) 1a. brown stationery envelope, uprated with 1/2a. blue, "From No. 371 Sergeant H. Fisher No. 1 Field Hospital Kandahar Force" to England, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and cancelled with diamond of bars, showing a fine strike of the "southampton/ship letter" c.d.s. (30.7) on face, the reverse with "candhar", Bombay (29.6) and London (30 and 31.6) c.d.s.; the envelope with a few small faults though an unusual cover from the campaign carried by private ship.
