South Africa Official Stamps 1926-54 specialised used collection arranged by "The Stamps of the Union of South Africa 1910-1961" handbook, edited by S.J. Hagger, mostly comprising pairs and blocks of four neatly mounted and arranged in one volume; include are Set 1 6d. corner block of four and four pairs, three with letter flaws; Set 2 2d. used on piece in Swaziland and 6d. pairs (6, one with inverted watermark and some with letter flaws); Set 3 2d. blocks of four with imprint (2), 2d. (4) and 6d. (2) pairs; Set 4 selection with 6d. pairs (9), some with varieties; Set 5 selection with 6d. pairs (8) some with type varieties including shifted overprints and the three values in pairs with stop after "offisieel" on English and Afrikaans stamps; Set 6 range to 2/6d. (6) with several type varieties including shifted overprints and stop after "offisieel" on English and/or Afrikaans stamps to 1/-; Set 7 with values to 2/6d. (3), a few with type varieties; Set 8 to 2/6d. (3) with 1d. pair with overprint double and 6d. strip of three with one showing "offisieel" reading up; Set 9 with 1d. pair with overprint double and 1d. block of four with shifted overprints; Set 10 selection with several showing dropped "official"; Set 11 selection to 2/6d. (4) with some varieties including dropped "official"; Set 12 selection to 1/-; Set 13 selection to 1/-; Set 14 selection to 2/6d. (2, one with inverted watermark); Set 15 to 2/6d.; Set 16 with 2d. blue pairs (2, one with raised "official") and 6d. blocks of four (3); Set 17 range to 2/6d. with type varieties; Set 18 with range to 10/-, with two blocks of four, some used on large pieces; Set 19 selection with several showing raised "official"; Set 20 with 1/2d. and 1 1/2d. pairs showing diaeresis on second "e" on "offisieel"; Set 21 with selection to 2/6d. including 2d. and 1/- vertical pairs showing diaeresis on second "e" on "offisieel"; Set 22 range to 10/- (2); Set 23 selection with varieties including dropped "official" and 2d. pair with overprint misplaced resulting in one stamp with "official" only; Set 24 selection with values to 10/- (3, one vertical); Set 25 selection to 10/- (6, all vertical); Set 29 with 1/- blackish brown and ultramarine, 2/6d. (2) and 5/- (3, one vertical), and Set 30 with values to 5/- including 1/- brown and chalky blue and 5/- black and deep yellow-green control blocks of four; generally good to fine and a wonderful lot for the specialist Estimate £ 8,000-10,000
