St. Vincent 1796 (30 June) entire letter from Sergeant Smith to his brother in Scotland, marked "Pd 1" in upper left corner and, on reverse, "A Soldier´s letter" and signed by the Commanding Officer, the flap showing a fair strike of the very rare "st vincent" handstamp and with faint double-ring "paid" d.s. in red on face panel; the outer cover strengthened with archival tape.
