Bags´´ on published transcription of roll), born Salisbury, Wiltshire, 1830; joined the Royal Navy as Boy 2nd Class, 1848; appointed Gunner, 23.12.1865; served in H.M.S. Vernon (Torpedo School Ship), Portsmouth, from 26.4.1876, before service with H.M.S. Active in South Africa. Approximately 65 ´´1877-8´´ clasps to H.M.S. Active.
