A Great War Group of Three to Private H. Marshall, Royal Highlanders, Died of Wounds, 5.12.1914 1914 Star, with Bar, loose as issued (1643 Pte. H. Marshall. 2/R.Highrs); British War and Victory Medals (1643 Pte. H. Marshall. R. Highrs.), nearly extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´Henry Marshall´ Estimate £ 200-240 1643 Private Henry Marshall, born Inverkeithing, Fifeshire; served during the Great War with the 2nd Battalion Royal Highlanders on the Western Front from 12.10.1914; he died of wounds 5.12.1914; at the end of November/beginning of December 1914 the battalion were part of the Bareilly Brigade, Meerut Division and occupied trenches in the Festubert area; on the 23rd/24th November the Germans captured 800 yards of trench from the Indian Corps, the latter suffering 53 officers and 866 other ranks as casualties; in early December it was the 2nd Battalion Royal Highlanders who re-occupied the position, suffering casualties in the process; Marshall is buried in the Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Pas de Calais.
