Helms, Private R.M.L.I.), V.M. officially re-impressed, good very fine, with Marines Helmet badge and portrait photograph of recipient Estimate £ 110-130 16072 Private William Jesse Helms, born Hampshire, 1881; joined Royal Marine Light Infantry, 23.1.1901; pre-war postings including H.M.S.´´s Phoenix, Tamar, Argonaught, Crescent and Flora; with the outbreak of the Great War Helms went with the Royal Marine Brigade and took part in actions at Ostend (26th August - September 1914), Dunkirk (20th September - 2nd October 1914), and the defence of Antwerp (3rd - 9th October 1914); other war time postings including H.M.S.´´s Rainbow, Shearwater and Niobe; invalided out of the Navy, 15.11.1918.
