North Italian, possibly Paduan School (possibly late 15th century - early 16th century) Bacchus, slightly irregular rectangular bronze plaquette, min. height 52.5, max. height 53.3mm. x 35.6mm. at base, 36.4mm. at top, a very fine old cast, grey-brown patina, two areas of solder and traces of numbers in ink on the reverse The head of a laughing Baccant, crowned with vine leaves, turned slightly to the right. We do not know of any other examples of this plaquette. Estimate £ 300-500
