Master of Coriolanus (North Italy, c.1500) Coriolanus leaving Rome, rectangular bronze plaquette, 31.7mm. x 44.5mm., an old cast, thicker than the previous lot, medium brown patina, pierced at centre top and bottom, two areas of solder and number 9 lightly scratched on the reverse Three horsemen advance to the right, the nearest man turning towards two men who follow on foot. Beyond them is seen a fourth horseman. Another plaquette illustrating a scene from the life of Coriolanus. In some versions the head and forelegs of a fourth horse can be clearly seen at the extreme left of the front group, though no rider is visible. This fourth horse has clearly been removed from this version. The plaquette most often occurs in a rectangular format, and less frequently as a circular plaquette.
