Bertoldo di Giovanni (1420-1491) Filippo de´ Medici, bronze medal, 56mm., a fine contemporary cast, brown patina, pierced at 12 o´clock Obverse: bust of Filippo de´Medici in profile left, tonsured, wearing rochet, in a wreath of a plant (Solomon´s Seal?) entwined with a scroll on which VIRTVTE at left, SVPERA at right, inside the wreath and below the bust is the legend PHYLIPPVS DE - MEDICIS - ARCHIEPISCHOPVS PISANVS Reverse: The Last Judgement, Christ in the centre, angels sounding the Last Trumpet, and the dead rising below, the Blessed on the left, the Damned on the right, in exergue ET IN CARNE MEA VIDEBA DEVM SALVATOREM MEVM Filippo de´Medici, Bishop of Arezzo 1457, Archbishop of Pisa 1461-74, died 1484.
