China 1897 (7 Feb.) stampless envelope to Shanghai bearing good strikes of "customs/tientsin" c.d.s. and unframed "postage paid" in blue, the reverse with Shanghai Customs c.d.s. Rare. Photo Estimate £ 500-600 Note: Strikes of this unframed handstamp may be found on mail which was despatched in the latter part of January and early February 1897. Little information is known about this mark, however, from the few covers recorded, it would seem to have been withdrawn from postal service on or about 11th February 1897
