British Guiana Early letters and Handstamps Demerara 1789 (9 July) entire letter from "Demerary" "p Nymph Via New York" to Benjamin Fuller, merchant in Philadelphia, carried by Mr. Bush as a personal favour and with manuscript "Received 22nd August 1789" at top; the contents including "I was pursued for upwards of Six Hours by a ten Gund Schooner, & she at last drove me into this River". The earliest recorded outward letter from Demerara, written during a period of Dutch Administration when there was no Post Office operating. Photo Estimate £ 300-350
