Royal Institution, John Fuller prize, 1828, specimen striking in bronze, john fuller esq. rose hill sussex, bust right, signed on truncation w wyon a.r.a. mint, rev, for chemical discoveries... inscription in eight lines within wreath, 45mm. (BHM.1323), extremely fine Estimate £ 60-100 John Fuller, Member of Parliament for Southampton in 1780 and for Sussex 1801-10, was a kindly eccentric known as ´Mad Jack´. He founded a professorship in the Royal Institution called ´The Fullerian´. The first winner of the prize was Michael Faraday.
