(Forrer IV, 451-2; Riccardi 53 - RR), extremely fine, lightly toned, rare, in fitted case Estimate £ 3,000-4,000 Struck on the occasion of the marriage of Crown Prince Francesco, Duke of Calabria (1777-1830), the second son of Ferdinand IV of Naples and Sicily, to his cousin Maria Clementina, daughter of Emperor Leopold II of Austria. The couple had been married by proxy in 1790, but this medal celebrates their marriage in person at Foggia, 25 June 1797. Maria Clementina died in 1801.
