Corporal H. France´s Military Medal was probably awarded for the Cambrai Tank attacks and German counter attacks, November 1917. M.M. London Gazette 11.2.1919 105266 Pte. France, W., 62nd Bn., Machine Gun Corps (London, N.) (France) 105266 Private William France, M.M., born Islington, London, 1891, the brother of Corporal Harry France, M.M.; enlisted as 40598 Private, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers; transferred 4th Hussars; transferred to the 62nd Battalion, Machine Gun Corps on its formation as part of 62nd (2/ West Riding) Division, 9.3.1918; died of wounds received in the Battle of Battle of Sambre, 5.11.1918, and is buried in Awoingt British Cemetery, France. Corporal W. France´s Military Medal was probably awarded for Battle of the Sambre river, November 1918.
