M.G.C.), pierce mark to BWM, worn, good fine (4) Estimate £ 400-450 M.M. London Gazette 28.9.1917 5286 Pte. J. Whitington, M.G. Corps (Brighton). 5286 Private John Whitington, M.M., enlisted 90th Company, Machine Gun Corps, formed Bray, France, 13.3.1916; served with ´D´ Company, 8the Battalion, Machine Gun Corps in Iraq; later transferred Royal Sussex Regiment. Private Whitington´s Military Medal was probably awarded for the Battle of the Scarpe, 1917.
