Mortimore (sic). 91st Regt.), edge bruising, therefore very fine Estimate £ 450-500 1487 Private William Mortimer, born Moreton Hampstedd, Devon; joined 85th Foot, 1840; transferred 91st Foot, 1842; served with the regiment in the Second Kaffir War and ´received a gunshot wound through the right elbow joint in action with the Boers at Boom Plaats, 29th of August 1848´ (Service Papers refer); discharged 1849, after 9 years and 156 days service.
