Cristoforo Moro, Doge of Venice (1462-1471), lead cast medal by Antonello Gambello, called ´Della Moneta´, 42mm., cristoforvs mavro dvx, bust left wearing Ducal robes and Cap, signed ant on truncation, rev. religionis et ivstitiae cvltor within a fruiting wreath (Arm.I, 46 1; Hill 411; Voltolino 39), a good contemporary lead cast, rim nick at 5 o´clock Estimate £ 600-800 Antonio Gambello da San Zaccaria, also known as Antonio di Marco, came to prominence c.1458 as architect and sculptor at the church of San Zaccaria in Venice. He was father of the engraver and medallist Vettore di Antonio Gambello, called Camelio. He died after 1479 and before February 1481.
